Description
The Satellite - outdoor floor lamp is a design by the famous Hungarian designer Mathieu Matégot dating from 1953 and is reissued by Gubi. Its modern, eccentric design is inspired by the Asian lantern to create a magical, poetic ambience in your outdoor space. Its egg-shaped shade, similar to delicate lace, lets light filter through thousands of tiny holes, creating enchanting shadow effects. The perforated stainless steel shell diffuses light at 360 degrees, while its wide black and white lacquered aluminum cap subtly deflects the light for an interplay between light and shadow.
Mathieu Matégot was a Hungarian-born, Paris-based designer renowned for his distinctive, innovative style. Self-taught, he explored various fields before devoting himself to design, where he introduced revolutionary techniques such as perforated sheeting. Matégot has won several prestigious awards for his creations (the Prix du Design of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1951, the Prix René Gabriel in 1955, the International Design Prize of the Milan Biennale in 1959 and others), and his work is hailed for its transparency, lightness and modernity.
